Retail landlords have highlighted the growing convergence of convenience, community and value in town centre retail locations.

Speaking exclusively to Estates Gazette at the Retail Summit 2013, Capital & Regional managing director shopping centres, Mark Bourgeois, said that technology has a “really exciting part to play as these three things converge”.

NewRiver Retail director Charlie Miller added that one of the key trends emerging is the shift of supermarkets back into town centres.

Bourgeois also warned that the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 is no longer relevant in supporting the regeneration of malls and town centres in many situations.
