The RICS believes home repossessions could potentially drop below 30,000 this year.
Its comments came after the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) reported 33,900 seizures in the UK last year, down from its original forecast of 45,000. The 9% fall on the previous year was the lowest level since 2007. The CML also reported on the buy-to-let market where it said gross lending climbed 19% to £16.4bn last year, the most since 2008. It said the market was benefiting from strong tenant demand.
