Research is being conducted (pun intended) into how the addition of metal oxides and plastic fibres can transform the humble brick into supercapacitor batteries.

Electricity generated by solar panels on the roof of a building could then be stored in its very walls.

So far test have been successful. The only downside of the new technology so far is that it seems to turn the bricks blue.
