The UK housing market has had its busiest month in more than a decade as sales top £37bn.

According to Rightmove agreed property sales rose by 48% compared with the same month last year, and were 20% higher than the previous monthly record set in March 2017.

Rightmove said that the average asking price on a property in Britain was now £319,497, slightly lower than the record high of £320,265 in its July report, and mostly driven by a 2% drop in London.

Bank of England data(£) tells a slightly different story, with sales up 20% on last month and prices £10,000 higher.
