The construction industry has recorded its strongest monthly rise in activity in nearly five years.

The IHS Markit/CIPS construction purchasing managers’ index rose to 58.1 in July from 55.3 in June.

The rise is above forecasts and a sharp rebound from April’s low of 8.2.
