The number of homes for sale has stayed close to record lows despite a recovery in demand.

According to the RICS, estate agents had an average of just 39 properties on their books per branch.

A net balance of 61% of the 500 branches surveyed cited a rise in new inquiries over the month, in stark contrast to the readings of -7% for April and –94% for May.
