The stamp duty cut has seen a surge of interest in London’s commuter belt.

Rightmove said that Milton Keynes, Watford and Harrow had seen a doubling of enquiries since the stamp duty holiday was announced last Wednesday.

It added that the biggest jumps in searches were in Chelmsford, Swindon and Bromley.
