Private rents have reached record highs during the lockdown.

The average rent for England was £700pm, according to the ONS. But the median rent soared to £1,425 in London and £2,492 in Westminster, while dropping to £495 in north-east England.

Hull is Britain’s cheapest location for private renters, with an average of £420pm.
